RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 15-17, 2009
Again, if Tom ever posts here, I'm either dead or close thereunto. :)
I am starting to wonder if Tom thinks we smell or something. :E
Welllll, I didn't want to say anything.... :B
Nah, he just doesn't get online except to work. He's not a terribly social sort of person to begin with. It doesn't mean you guys are bad or anything (although some of you are and you know who you are). :)
So...where is a good place to park my trailer over near Union Gap next week? I have a thing to go to that weekend and Tom's thinking we should start over on Wednesday and take some time to just poke around. Something off the interstate and having hookups is good.
Laura, there is an RV parkjust outside Union Gap in Yakima, it is CIRCLE H RV RANCH it has 50 amps, full hookups, a mini golf course and the "19th hole cafe". the address is: 1107 So 18th St. Yakima WA, the ph number 509 457 3683. I've never been in there but it looks OK from the road.

Bob, I figured that you went back far enough to know the correct terminology, Otto, the SOS was always good and we had it every Thursday morning. Generally the chow aboard the carrier was alright, ketchup and hot sauce can cover most things.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 15-17, 2009
The best SOS I got in the Navy was always with chipped beef. Otto had the great chowder so I am thinking he has great SOS too. I am here to help Otto. David G, once you have good SOS you will be hooked for life. Going on midwatch it always made my watch when we went to the gally and there was SOS with good burnt toast waiting for us.
I guess I'm showing my age, but the only SOS we had when I was in the Navy was the red with ground beef, the chipped beef on toast was called something else, I can't devulge that here, but it was not called SOS. Of course you have to remember that I was a fleet sailor, stationed on a ship and we were in a somewhat different world then the other services or the shore-duty sailors.
RE: There must be an art to MOUNTAIN DRIVING
I have a 2000 journey with the 5.9 Cummins, I began experiencing heat problems such as your when climbing hills in Washington state. I discovered that the blow-by tube from the crankcase was positioned by the lower right corner in front of the radiator and that the radiator was 2/3 plugged. I soaked the radiator on both sides with simple green and washed it with a garden hose from the back until it was clean, it took about four hours that time. No more heat problems and you will need to reroute the blow-by.

Jon, borrow Chucks airedale and see how the s.o.b likes that. As Teri & Bob said, glad that Ryan is OK, must have been terrifying for him.
Jon, sorry that Ryan had to go through something like that, the airedale would have enjoyed it though, for him everything tasts like chicken.

DavidG
I called the social security office and they said I could have the whole 2 weeks off. Not a bad boss don't you think?
Bigdog,,, I thought you had this time off all planned? What happened? Not a very nice boss. You should go ahead and get a boss like I have.
Just don't make any noise when you get here.
Hobo
Good one Bob, score one for the old guys.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
The last 16 months I was in the Air Force I was station at pier 91 Seattle (Navy). So, I know all about Navy coffee. Also Navy is the only ones that I know of that serves beans for breakfast. Do they serve beans for breakfast at sea?
Hobo
Only when the wind is blowing 15+ knots Hobo.
They did serve beans for breakfast at sea, any sailor worth his salt could get a 20 second linger time at 15 knots, and keep a straight face while doing it. (the air force guys always giggled)
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
Griff,, Hope you are still coming. We have not heard much from you this winter.
Hope you and yours a well.
Hobo
Well, we made our reservations, paid a night in advance and then Jaydee dumped a bit of a bombshell on us last week. He has a battle of the bands competition on Friday and a Judo Tournament on Saturday. It appears we are not going to be able and make it now.
Jaydee struggled terribly between the visit to the air museum with the Behrent clan and his committments to teammates here. I do support his decision to be there for the team, this is the last event for the season, but it really sucks not to be able to see all y'all.
What do we need to do to let folks know there will be another space available?
Hobo, are you coming over to see your brother this summer? If so, let me know so we can buy you and Miss Holly dinner, coffee or the like.
Kevin, dadgummit, we will have to hook up another time...
We are going to miss seeing everyone... Treese was just saying how this was her most enjoyable outting of the year, getting to see y'all and such a relaxed environment... hopefully next year!
Griff, I hope you realize not being present does not excuse you from the rain dance, wherever you are you do the dance. If it rains on the rest of us then we will know that you did'nt dance.
Sorry that you guys can't make it, we will miss you, it's great to have a bunch of youngers to pick on.
Take care everyone and we will be there in spirit!
RE: GPS versus Cell Phone Road Attention
Lets see, what do I do to distract myself while driving the MH? I regularly check my mirrors, my backup camera that shows me the toad and cars behind the toad, my instrument display (speed, temp, voltage, oil pressure), and every now and then I will steal a quick glance at the GPS. I really do not need to check the GPS as it verbally tells me the routing, but it shows me the road ahead and I like that, I do not talk on the cell phone as that does distract me, all of these things give me information that I feel helps me on my way and are not distracting to me.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
By turkey baster, do mean the big pot on the burner to french fry turkeys with? that's what we need! Found out Tom doesn't have one, so this third one will fill out what we needed. Thanks!
Yep, thats what it is, let us know if you need anything else, we might be able to round it up.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
We will be bringing our turkey baster, 30 cup coffee pot and a large electric grill, no dancing for me, my left knee is healing and my right knee is on the way out, but I can snap my fingers and keep time for those lucky souls who are dancing. I have been busy repairing the back panel of the MH that was damaged when I backed into the neighbors fence, looks good, now it is much glossier then the rest of the coach. Filled up with fuel yesterday, $244, got it at Wapato for $4.19 per gal, about 20 to 30 cents cheaper then anywhere in Yakima.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
Tradewinds there is a nice little park on the north side of the river at Biggs and Maryhill just across the bridge,It is not dry campin but it is easy in and out.
The biggs bridge on 97 is closed for construction until May 23rd. To get to Maryhill you would have to cross at the Dalles and comeback to it.
RE: Northwest Spring Rally, May 16,17&18, 2008
Strange happenings,Today I received a package in the mail from the dept. of defense and tha Army,It contained a letter and a framable certificate thanking me for my service to the country,a Army lapel pin.two ARMY stickers for my vehicles. Now keep in mind I have had no contact with the Army for nearly 50 years,I turned 70 a few months back are they trying to see if I'm still alive? I'm a little to old for the draft.Has anyone else received this package?
McCain may be looking for a secretary of defense.
